The Eight Fbian Hearts : A Novel by Harsha Shastry

INTRODUCTION:

I received this book from my facebook friend Harsha Shastry who's written numerous short stories and screenplays for kids' shows like Chhota Bheem, Motu Patlu etc. That way I can say that he's an acclaimed writer. This novel "The Eight Fbian Hearts" is published by Tingle Books, Hapur, Meerut. On reading the book what I can say is that this is a book based on a unique concept - Imperfection - and if you want to know more about it you'll have to go through it and I assure you that it will not disappoint you.

THE STORY:

The story is woven around eight persons who use Facebook, a social media platform, to make new friends and to communicate with and a few search their love interest also knowing fully well that people from both sexes may be deceptive by hiding their true identities, original physical appearances, fake economic statuses and unrealistic positions in profession they claim to. This all revolves around the main theme of this novel that we the people are Imperfect and neither ready to accept those imperfections for ourselves nor of the others - like a few are obese where some are black in complexion, where some may have skin disease like leucoderma, the other may be bald, which lead them either to hide these things from others or create a fear of rejection in them, force them to lie ultimately leading them into depression. The writer has very beautifully put this problem, a social one, in a very interesting manner and tried to counsel them to face the realities of life, not to be deceptive ever in communicating with others; specially when they're seeking their life partner through social media platforms like Facebook etc.

REVIEW:

In this book the writer has taken a novel concept of imperfections occurring in human body and the fear of acceptance and rejection both create a kind of inferiority complex and feeling of insecurity in them. But when we come across the fact that almost each and every person has some kind of lacking, that feeling of negativity is overtaken by positivity and life looks beautiful. The language of the book is simple and the flow is smooth. Nowhere I found the plot as stretched and the story sumps up quickly on positive notes making the reader happy. The best point of the book is that it doesn't preach anything but says everything silently and indirectly.

MY TAKE:

In today's life when everything depends on social media, social status, social stigmas, and professional commitments and day to day stresses we go through, I strongly suggest the younger generation to go through this wonderful book. I would like to suggest the writer to edit the draft meticulously and remove certain typos and spelling mistakes before it goes for second edition. The cover of the book is fine.
My best wishes to Harsha Shastry for his next literary endeavour.

RATING:

As Harsha has rightly dealt the subject of imperfection and justified it, the same I would like to say about this book as I cannot term it a perfect book which is natural and there's a scope of tremendous improvement. So being extremely careful and truthful my honest rating is 3/5.
